What are our Competitions?
A fantastic add on to our Junior Academy is our Academy Competitions structure.
If your child joins our Junior Golf Academy and is having a weekly group lesson you gain access to our Academy Competitions. These events represent a great opportunity for your child to gain experience out on the golf course at the Downshire Golf Complex to compliment the lessons they are taking in our junior academy.
These competitions are played over 9 holes with a structured colour tee system designed for different age groups and ability. These events also give the parents a chance to dust off their golf clubs with our organised family competitions allowing you to spend some quality time on the course with your child.
On Course Experience
This is essential to progress and the long-term development of your childs game.
Fun & Structured
These events represent a great opportunity for your child to gain experience out on the golf course while competing in a fun, relaxed environment.
Academy Handicap
Your child will gain an Academy handicap when playing in these competitions with the aim of lowering this and improving scores.
Live Leaderboards
During some of these events, a live leaderboard will be set up via an app creating an exciting and different experience for the competitors.
Online Booking
Online booking will be available to reserve yourself a space and keep the process as simple as possible.
Next Academy Competition: There are currently no competitions scheduled.

Night Golf
An annual event which is played in darkness. A novelty competition which includes glow in the dark golf balls, glow sticks and torches.
3 Club Challenge
The Juniors will choose only 3 clubs to use for this competition, this encourages the player to be creative and adaptable.
Parent & Child Greensomes
Another great opportunity to get out onto the golf course with your child in a greensomes format.
Flag Competition
Also known as Tombstone, the juniors try to get their flag as far around the course as possible after receiving a total number of shots.

I focused on being a PGA Teaching Professional after my competing days and have been very fortunate to play alongside and receive coaching from some of the Worlds leading Professionals gaining knowledge, tips and great insight thereby encouraging me to create a platform to share.
I provide coaching services for a wide range of players, starting from beginners embarking on their golfing journey, to experienced and low handicap players seeking meticulous improvements to enhance their performance and lower their scores.
My own learning never stops as I continue to attend conferences seeking out new ideas and findings about the game. “Those Who Dare to Teach, Must Never Cease to Learn” – David Leadbetter
My approach to teaching focuses on the individual rather than a specific method. By ensuring that the fundamentals are applied correctly and utilising factual data from my Trackman Launch monitor, I am able to accurately measure a player’s swing. Additionally, I incorporate swing drills and visual aids to assist in developing the correct sensations, allowing for the establishment of desired movements and new swing patterns.
To maximise learning potential and understanding, every client will receive a swing video with voice analysis uploaded to their own personal locker within this website so progressive changes can be shown over the duration of a lesson and period of time.
Junior Golf is also a passion and very important to me. In particular introducing children to golf at grass roots level, making the game accessible, engaging and very importantly fun.
We have established a very popular Junior academy programme at the Downshire through skill acquisition learning. This includes academy competitions and showpiece events, with the goal of providing a clear pathway so all juniors can prosper and thrive at the club.
